Whitney
Tiare Yanos Acoba is one of the Maui High School Class of 1969 scholarship
recipients, and is the daughter of Mr & Mrs Willie and Nena
Acoba. At school, Whitney is the National Honor Society Vice President,
Key Club Secretary, involved in Maui HIgh's Marching/Pep & Symphonic
Bands, Peer Mediation Team, Honor Band, Saber Souljahz, and Yearbook
Staff. Off campus she is a junior volunteer at the Maui Arts and
Cultural Center, and involved with the King's Cathedral Maui. In
her free time, she enjoys singing, dancing hula/Tahitian, playing
the piano, ukulele, and spending time with family & friends.
After high school, Whitney's plans are to earn a degree in biology
and then move on to medical school. In the future, she plans to
serve the Maui community because of how its people greatly impacted
her life.
Summer
Bradbury is another Maui High School Class of 1969 scholarship recipient,
and is intending on attending a college in Southern California where
she intends to major in business administration with emphasis in
international business. In a summary of herself, she writes, "I've
grown up with a permanently disabled mother, and a severe health
condition myself, which hasn't allowed me the ability to participate
in everything I would like to. I've faced numerous obstacles growing
up, but I have maintained a good foothold in who I am. I am driven
to go far, and accomplish many things. This drive has kept me focused
in my education throughout my entire childhood. Now as I am entering
adulthood, I am looking forward to continuing my education at a
Southern California university. Where I intend to major in business
administration with a special emphasis in international business.
I have multiple ideas on what I am going to do with my degree upon
receiving it, but I intend to bring my business back to Maui, where
it shall reap the benefits of the specific field I go into."
Our goal is to give back to Maui High School, possibly in the form of a savings bond or scholarship to the class of 2010 Keep the donations coming in!!! Email sabers_1969@yahoo.com for instructions as to where to send in your donations.
